Joy in Gospel Obedience
Paul continues his letter with practical instructions to the church in Philippi on how to live as Christians. But in true Pauline fashion, he encourages them to do this after he's already communicated who Jesus is and what he has done, which he so beautifully did in the previous verses (5-11). This is how we can rejoice in obedience, despite our circumstances, as our focus should always be on the gospel. Jesus took my place, he substituted himself for me, and when we look at who we are compared to who He is...we stand (or fall on our knees) in amazement at His glorious grace, and we rejoice! Thank you Jesus!
