Here I Raise My Ebenezer
1 Samuel 7:1-17 Israel discovers that restoration begins when God’s people remove the idols competing for their hearts, rely on God instead of their own strength, and raise reminders of His faithfulness. As they return to the Lord, cry out for His help, and watch Him deliver them from the Philistines, Samuel sets up the Ebenezer stone and declares, “Till now the LORD has helped us.” The passage ultimately points us to Jesus, our greater Mediator and sacrificial Lamb, through whom we are brought back to God and given the ultimate reason to remember His grace. Because God has been faithful thus far, we can keep trusting Him for what lies ahead.
