Joy in Believing
Paul warns the Philippians against those who teach that righteousness comes through confidence in one's flesh. Instead he declares that the Christian has been given "a righteousness that comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith". What is the genuine nature of faith (believing)? It isn't merely belief and assent, and it is not just emotions and feelings. It is trusting Him with our whole lives. It is having CONFIDENCE in Him and Him alone. It means we place EVERYTHING on Christ. And this kind of genuine faith (believing) produces Joy!
