Joy in Gospel Advance
(Our two themes for this year come together powerfully in this passage!) Paul's imprisonment has resulted in much gospel advance - through the guards who watch him and anyone else he comes into contact with while in prison. And because of this gospel witness, advance, he rejoices! Christ is being proclaimed and the gospel made known. More people who don't know Christ are being told and seeing the beauty and worth of Christ! And though he is suffering for Christ (in prison and through some enemies), he can still rejoice because Christ is being made known!
